Onion Bacon Egg Cheese Omelet

Monday December 12, 2016

Ok here is another calorie saving meal.  Your probably wondering why I worry about these small calorie savings. Well when  your trying to loose weight every calorie counts.  It also allows you to eat a little more for the next meal and you won't be so hungry for the day.  Like I said last time when I cook bacon I always cook an extra slice just because I have to slave over the stove top to cook one slice of bacon.  Yea who wants to cook 1 slice of bacon?  Well for breakfast I wanted an omelet for breakfast.  I diced up a quarter of an onion and a teaspoon of bacon bits in skillet till the onions where how I liked them.  Then I fixed my eggs mixture and slow cooked it in a skillet (see link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hkQF4sNjXk ) .  I would have normally put 2 slices of bacon when cooking this dish.  Using the precooked bacon bits I saved 80 calories.  I could have save some more if I would have used a low calorie cheese also.   That was 80 calories I was able to save.  Your ought to try it.  No difference than using regular bacon.  It's actually better.  I have been doing good on my new eating plan.  I lost another pound Yay!

Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and Spoiled Meal Plan

Wednesday September 28, 2016 Menu

I had plans to eat real good today.  I ate a small breakfast of the Jimmy Dean stuffed hash brown.  Then I left the office to do some field work.  I was out all day till 2pm.  That meant I had to eat out.  Ugh....  Well I stopped at a restaurant.  Yea I had a wide variety of options and could have picked a lighter option.  But, I knew I had plenty of calories left for the day and if I have beans for supper I will be pretty close to where I needed to be.  Which my breakfast and lunch equaled 1264 calories.  I had 66 calories left for the day and I had some left over beans waiting at home that was only 147 calories. Which would only put me over by 81 calories.   So I ate a Philly cheese steak sandwich with onion rings, I have been dying to try out.   I went work out with my 20 minutes of cardio and 40 minutes of weight training.  I headed home afterwards.  When I got home my mother had cooked hamburgers and french fries.  Well that just ruined my plans.  Not to insult my mom I ate the burger but no fries.  The burger was basic, complete with a bun, tablespoon of mayo and the meat patty.  I would have loved to add cheese to it, but I didn't.  I finished the day with a total of 1794 calories for the day.  Which put me way over by 464 calories.  Ugh that was depressing.  I will use this as my cheat/splurge day.  I can't have too many of those kind of days.  So I will see if I can keep it under control the rest of the week.  Saturday will be hard.  If you like my meal ideas just check out my diary for a list of ingredients for that meal.  And yes! I measured and weighed everything.  A crucial part of everyone's dieting is will power. The second part is portion control with good choices and third is physical activity.

Fried Crawfish Tails

Thursday September 15, 2016 Menu

I had a meeting at the Paragon and I knew this would be a day I would have to eat out.  I ate very light and had an egg.  for lunch we went eat at Roxy's Diner.  I wanted either a shrimp poboy, Monte Christo or fried crawfish.  The portion sizes for the sandwiches are so large that I decided to eat the fried crawfish appetizer.  This came with thin onion rings.  I will save the other 2 for a day I can share with a friend or be able to have takeout.  When I got off work we were heading out for New Orleans for a little trip with my daughter and her best friend.  My mom had made a chicken and gravy.  I ate just a piece of chicken before leaving.  We arrived in New Orleans around 9pm.  I was a little hungry and opted to eat a ham and turkey sandwich.  This whole weekend I ate on the fly.  I can't properly add to my diary from my phone for some reason.  Now that I am sitting here entering all of my foods I am learning how to portion myself a lot better.  I finished the day with a total of 1154  calories for the day.  I was 56 under my calorie goal.    That was a great day.  If you like my meal ideas just check out my diary for a list of ingredients for that meal.  And yes! I measured and weighed everything.  A crucial part of everyone's dieting is will power. The second part is portion control with good choices and third is physical activity.

Southern Fried Chicken & Onion Rings

Sunday September 4, 2016 Menu

I forgot that this was payday week.  We usually go out to eat.  Last time it was the Katfish Kitchen.  This week is an after church meal of fried chicken and onion rings.  For breakfast I decided to eat a small bowl of cereal.  If you decide to eat cereal for breakfast, try not to eat more than 1 cup and 1/2 cup of milk.  For the fat and calories we are better off eating real food. I was digging on the counter and found this small bag of Golden Grahams that needed to be eaten.  I am the only one in the house that eats that.  Poof, now it's gone.  I will not be buying cereal for a while.  If I do I might just get some bran flakes, might.  Maybe I will get it again when I get the maintain my weight stage.  Right now we are in the loose weight stage.  At this stage the calorie intake is low at 1330 and the exercise is high at 5 days a week.  I entered in my food diary the breakfast and lunch.  I put the chicken at 1 1/2 pieces because it is always a big piece of meat as you see in the photo.  I only had 300 calories left for supper.  I put dibs on the leftover cabbage casserole.  I think I did awesome this day.  I even did several hours of weed eating the yard.  No I didn't put that in my exercise diary.  I don't know if that is exactly the calories burned as shown on My Fitness Pal.  See when I enter in my bicycle and elliptical calories that are on the machine it's always about 100 calories less than the website puts.  I just correct it.   I don't know how to tell how many calories I actually burned, so I don't enter it.  Well my awesomeness wore off when I went to church and the kids had youth group.  They were bragging at how good the Chips Ahoy fudge stuffed cookies were and got talked into trying one.   Ugh that one cookie was 70 calories and put me over my total by 57.    I finished the day with a total of 1387 calories for the day.   Had I not eaten the cookie I would have been under my calories for the day.  I am not going to stress over it because I did do several hours of yard work.  But need to not eat the cookie next time.  Will power, will power, I need to remember to use my will power.  If you like my meal ideas just check out my diary for a list of ingredients for that meal.  And yes! I measured and weighed everything.  A crucial part of everyone's dieting is will power. The second part is portion control with good choices and third is physical activity.
